About Lindsey (she/her/hers)

Seeking Koinonia (formerly Reading Red Letters) serves as a place for me to explore, in community with you, my faith journey and writing theologically.

Church Involvement

LH Headshot, under 2MB

A lifelong Christian who was raised in the United Methodist church, I have been a confirmed member of The Episcopal Church since 2007. I am very active at my church, the Cathedral of St. Philip, and I serve as a Licensed Lay Preacher in the Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta. I have been elected as Lay Deputy to the 81st General Convention of The Episcopal Church (2024); this will be my second term representing the Diocese of Atlanta in The House of Deputies, part of the bicameral legislature which governs The Episcopal Church. I have also been appointed as a member of the Task Force on the State of Membership in The Episcopal Church.

Education

I am currently a second year Doctor of Ministry (Church Leadership and Community Witness) student at Emory University’s Candler School of Theology (anticipated graduation May 2024) where I serve on the Candler Coordinating Council (C3) and as a student representative on the Curriculum & Policy Committee.

I earned my BA (double major: English and theatre) from Wake Forest University, my MFA in performing arts management from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, a Certificate of Theology and the Arts from Fuller Theological Seminary, and my Master of Theological Studies & MDiv Equivalent at Nashotah House Theological Seminary. I am a member of the American Academy of Religion and the Association of Practical Theology.

Career

By day I am an experienced nonprofit professional in Metro Atlanta and who serves as the Executive Director for the Episcopal Community Foundation for Middle and North Georgia. My previous roles include Development Director for the Atlanta BeltLine Partnership and Special Events & Board Manager for the Alliance Theatre, and since 2009 I have provided nonprofit and management consulting as Tizzy Consulting.

In the evenings and on weekends, I also work with individuals, families, and companies to create their ideal life by organizing their spaces, systems, and finances through my company Get Organized Y’all™. I am a professional organizer and productivity consultant trained and certified by Marie Kondo as Georgia’s first Certified KonMari Consultant. I am also one of the first YNAB Certified Budgeting Coaches trained to coach people on using the transformative You Need A Budget method and software.

Hobbies

When I’m not busy working or studying, I enjoy reading voraciously, consuming all things Star Wars, playing The Sims for my CuteCoffeeGal YouTube channel, and organizing events as a co-founder of the Atlanta branch of Bourbon Women Association.

PLEASE NOTE: I do not speak on behalf of the Episcopal Church, my employer, my parish, my school, or any other organization with whom I am affiliated. My views are my own. This blog serves as a space for me to think through my own developing theology; my views may be in flux, in development, or changing altogether.
